Heading to Honduras

Yep! Aedyn's first trip oversees is for Eric's international medicine rotation in Roatan, Honduras. Eric will be working with a missionary nurse and local and missionary staff at Clinica Esperanza. Roatan is an island known for scuba diving and great beaches. We'll have our own little apartment w/ kitchen and Aedyn and I will find plenty of lovely people to meet and things to see while Eric does clinic and community health. Roatan has an interesting history as many of the current inhabitants are descendants of Carib slaves left behind on Roatan island, indigenous people , descendants of English, Spanish, and Dutch pirates and imperialists (sometimes there is a difference, I think) and now tourists. We're so excited to go!
We don't scuba but we're going on that glass bottom boat!

We went to Roatan a few years ago on a cruise ship stop. It is BEAUTIFUL!! There is a Christian orphanage there, CSI Roatan (but Kedron thinks the name might have changed), that we took supplies to. I'd recommend a visit there if you have time. Also, the West End is beautiful! We ate at Rudy's and the mango smoothies are the BEST!

i'm not comment-scared! i don't know much about roatan...but it sounds very exciting! i haven't been scuba-diving either--and apparently i'm not supposed to with the hole in my heart and all-which by the way, i'm getting closed--yippee! i dunno if that means i'll be able to scuba after that?? BUT i HAVE been snorkling! and that's SUPER great fun! you can see loads of underwater glories that way, with no risk of bubbles getting through to your heart!! :) LOOK OUT FOR SHARKS!!
