Our little piece of earth is pretty. Because it's been so dry here our garden is a bit underwhelming and a few of the bushes we transplanted are beyond hope but the trees around the yard are lovely. This is today's harvest.
I wrote last week about a little water plant called velvet. The soft tiny petel-like leaves float. The fish ate them all. They had to because a racoon got the fish food.

Those tomatoes are supposed to be yellow, and the beans are supposed to be purple. Very colorful, eh?
heirloom tomato salad. it's all beautiful. i'm sure more will come in eventually once you figure out what works there.
how did i miss that you have a pond? a pond! that's so awesome!
Eric dug a pond. He's had plans for a pond for many years and we finally have some land to put one. About 20 feet from the back door was a concrete slab with raised edges, probably a foundation for an old out building. Eric chopped up part of the floor to make an area 3 feet deep so fish could survive the winter. He lined and banked it and planted some pretty plants and added some fish and tadpoles. Oh yeah, he put a sump pump in our basement to pump the used washing machine water and ran a pipe out to feed the pond. We use very little soap. 1: not much is actually needed 2: the diapers rinse cleaner thus are more absorbant 3: don't want to kill fish
Wow. I'm so impressed.
